Indian Acres Camp for Boys and Forest Acres Camp for Girls operate as , brother-sister camps, located two miles apart on the shores of the Saco River, in the heart of Mount Washington Valley. Each camp has their separate identities and operates as a stand-alone camp. Boys can be boys and girls can be girls without the worry of “how I look” or act”.
Studies in education have shown that children do best in a single gender learning environment. The residential summer camp experience is an education, not academic but a life education. Our unique program offers all the benefits of a single gender camp with some collaboration with the other camp.
We offer a geographically diverse community with campers from 20 states and 8 countries. Each year we visit 75% of our campers in their homes because we believe we are one family. Personal achievement is stressed in a community that has 150 girls and 150 boys; many that are second, third and fourth generation campers. The camps provide a warm, safe, supportive, and relaxed atmosphere where the children have a positive growing experience without pressure. A commitment to each camper as an individual is the key that balances the needs of everyone. Building community and teaching independence is the cornerstone of our 100-year history, caring for children.
