Right now, for many of us, it is cold outside, and we’re just counting the days until the snow thaws and the flowers start to bloom again. But while camp is still a few months away, nothing warms the heart quite like being in touch with your camp friends all year long. What is it about camp friends? There is something magical about the people we spend our summers with, and maintaining those bonds all year round is not just essential, it’s easier than ever. While many Maine Camp Experience member camps host formal reunions in the winter months, nobody has to wait to stay in touch. Our Maine campers do everything from group texts with their bunkmates to checking in on Facebook, Skype, or Snapchat (with parent approval, of course!). Thanks to all that modern technology they aren’t allowed to have at camp, keeping each other updated between seasons is a breeze. But if you want to keep that low-tech vibe running all year long, why not sit down with a pen and paper and write an old-fashioned letter? Nothing is better than getting mail from someone you miss like crazy! And of course, nothing beats a face-to-face meeting. If you missed the camp-sponsored reunion, create one of your own. Our own Maine has some great ideas for how to make that happen – check out her 5 Tips For A Great Summer Camp Reunion and “S’more”! No matter how you make it happen, keep your camp friends in your mind during these long winters. Soon enough the snow will give way to sunny days and warmer nights, you’ll be back in your bunk with your favorite people, and all will be right with the world. Hang in there, campers!
