Annual Gathering of the Best Maine Camps
October 20, 2016
By Laurie, the Maine Camp Experience Campcierge™ As my flight descended into Portland International Jetport, I was instantly struck by the jarringly beautiful colors of Maine’s fall foliage that had not yet hit the tri-state area. I was headed to Portland for our annual Maine Camp Experience camp conference, and I was equally taken with Maine as the backdrop for our fall get-together as so many camp families are each summer including mine. Every October, Maine Camp Experience camp directors meet in Portland to discuss best practices and share information that will enhance campers’ experiences to the fullest. And, while the directors each run his/her own camp independently, the group is a cohesive community that is dedicated to providing best-in-class – staff, activities, instruction, facilities, traditions, trips and more - to thousands of campers, in the beautiful state of Maine. In addition to meeting with each other, directors spend time with our top-notch business partners to learn about new offerings and begin to make purchasing decisions for the year ahead. This gathering always helps reinforce how wonderful the Maine Camp Experience community is, which is useful as I speak with current and prospective camp families about all the benefits of going to camp in Maine. This year we met at the beautiful and historical Custom House, which was hosted by our partner CIEE. Each summer, 20,000 kids head to Maine for the best camp experiences. And … as the campers live #10for2 … Maine Camp Experience camp directors and the businesses that provide everything from sailboats to camp cuisine work year-round to cultivate the best. Maine has such incredible natural beauty and top-notch camps that it’s easy to see why so many consider their Maine summer camp their home away from home. _ Maine Camp Experience Resources & Tools _
