By Laurie, the Campcierge™ Maine Camps are almost open for business, which has kids jumping for joy!  What seemed like an eternity when they left camp last summer has fast-forwarded to them being just days away returning to their summer “home away from home,” and new campers eagerly anticipating their first Maine Camp summer. With all the end-of-year craziness, it’s hard to believe that camps will soon begin.  Many campers (and parents) have already made it through the school year – no more tests to take or school lunches to pack, while others still have final exams and graduations (including my own two kids from elementary and middle schools).  Thankfully the trunks have all been packed and picked up!  The counselors have arrived, and are well into orientation and training.  Next up: camper arrivals! In these last few days before camp begins, camp kids will be busy seeing family and friends, printing out photos they want to bring to camp, and undoubtedly enjoying their last dinners at a favorite restaurant or savoring a great BBQ or favorite meal at home. Following all these end-of-school-year “happy/sad” moments, it’s great to have the beginning of camp in sight.  The question is … what can campers expect for the summer ahead?  We know; and we don’t … When kids spend time at Maine Camps, we know they will relish time on beautiful lakes learning to sail and ski. We know they will smell fresh pine in the air as they play a great variety of land sports, enjoy incredible arts, and take memorable out-of-camp trips.  We know they will unplug from their tech devices, connect with nature, make new friends, learn new skills, have fun, participate in great camp events and traditions, and gain confidence and independence. But … there is Maine camp magic that can’t be predicted.  It can only be lived, experienced and enjoyed to the fullest.  Maybe the next camp anthem will be written.  Maybe a child who is tentative about heights will scale to the top of Mount Katahdin.  Maybe a camper will discover a lifelong passion they may have never tried if they hadn’t been to camp. It’s that intangible quality, that je ne sais q’uois that makes experiencing camp in Maine distinctive and even more magical.   So bring it on Maine Camps summer 2019!  Our campers are ready and waiting! — Maine Camp Experience Resources & Tools
