It is almost hard to believe we are finally in the last days of 2020, and will be celebrating a new beginning this week! As we approach 2021 with excitement, we at Maine Camp Experience (MCE) are thinking about New Year’s resolutions. Making resolutions gives us a chance to think about what goals we want to set, and how we can be a better version of ourselves in the new year. Of course, when we think about resolutions, we are reminded of the many ways that Maine camps help to make us the best versions of ourselves each summer. At camp, campers and counselors enjoy countless outdoor activities and have so many amazing opportunities to be active. From watersports, to landsports and beyond, moving around is a key part of camp. As we look ahead to 2021, we at MCE want to bring this energy with us in the new year!Summers at camp also help our campers learn about the importance of working together, and the value of community. Whether it’s collaborating to clean a cabin, participating in team activities during Color War, or being a part of a camp family, the lessons of teamwork are one of the most important parts of each summer. So, as we head into the new year, we are thinking about how to bring our community-oriented selves with us — even while we are away from camp!Camp teaches our campers to always think about how they can do their best for themselves and for one another. Whether it’s being conscious of keeping the camp environment clean, or looking out for a homesick younger camper, camp teaches us to put our best selves forward each and every day.So, as we begin 2021, ask your camper how they will bring their camp self, and their best self into the new year. — Maine Camp Experience Resources & Tools
