While today is actually Groundhog Day, the pandemic has us feeling like we’re living the movie Groundhog Day. Just as Bill Murray found himself repeating the day over and over - it sometimes feels like we’re living in a time loop as we work, school, and quarantine at home. Thankfully, daily life at Maine Camps is quite the opposite! Every day is action packed with activities – and no two days are exactly the same. Children who attend Maine Camps this summer will be lucky to mix it up – enjoy what they already love and try new things, and experience fun activities day and night. Days: Every day, campers have a schedule with multiple periods featuring different activities. They could spend a morning at tennis, theater, and waterskiing, followed by an afternoon of soccer, photography, and lacrosse after lunch. They’ll have some rest time to play cards, write letters or just hang out, and they’ll have tasty meals and snacks which may be inside the dining hall or outside picnic-style and could be quiet or erupt into fun song and cheer. Nights: No camp day would be complete without a fun camp night which Maine Camps deliver in spades. Evening activities could feature campers and staff in a talent show, fun games at a carnival, or a sports night. And, special events are the cherry on top of the delicious Maine Camp sundae. Directors and staff lead fun events like Traditions Day, Color War/College Days, Sailing Regattas, and special performances like the Camp Play, Dance Show or Equestrian Show. Social action endeavors and trips out of camp like hikes and ocean clean ups further enhance the daily camp programs. So, we hope today that the groundhog does not see his shadow so spring arrives early – closely followed by summer! It’s exciting to know that there are just 20 weeks ‘til Summer Camp ’21 and there’s nothing monotonous about that! Maine Camp Experience Resources & Tools
