Maine Camps Start This Week! The Summer I Wish for Our Kids
June 22, 2021
Maine Camps are starting this week and the excitement from directors and staff at camp, and parents and kids at home is palpable. It’s hard to imagine at this time next week, our kids won’t be home – they’ll be steeped in camp fun, traditions, activities, and camp friendships at their summer home away from home. As we run the hectic race at home of school finals and graduations, dance recitals, sports events, trunk packing, dinners, doctor appointments, final forms, last minute name tagging, and carry-on bag preparations, we know that our children will soon get to have the summer they’ve been waiting for. We know they’ll pass through the camp gates and enter into a world unto itself. A land of fun and happiness, and growth and development. Laurie the Maine Camp Experience Campcierge™ and mom of Maine campers shares what she wishes for our children … When a baby is born, I always wish them a long, happy, and healthy life. I wish the same for our camp kids this summer – a long, happy, and healthy summer. A summer where kids are kids. Where they get to enjoy the great outdoors. Where they spend hours in and by the beautiful lake that provides a sense of calm, peace, happiness, and fun. A summer where kids get to play games and enjoy art. A summer where kids get to explore nature and climb high. A summer where they get to try new things and meet new people. A summer where they’ll form deeper bonds with their existing camp friends – having fun and creating new memories. A summer where they’ll get to spend time doing the things that they love. A summer where they’ll laugh till their faces hurt. A summer of incredible camp traditions. A summer of feeling safe and secure, and loved by directors and counselors. A summer where they’ll know that there’s no place they’d rather be. I miss my kids so much each summer when they’re away, but I know there’s nothing better for them than being at overnight camp in Maine having fun, being with camp friends, enjoying camp activities and traditions, learning new skills, gaining confidence and independence, and so much more. Wishing all our Maine campers happy last days at home this week. We cannot wait to see those first smiles as kids step into camp for what we know will be an unforgettable summer!
