The Apple of My Eye: Maine Camps & New Beginnings
September 7, 2021
Apples are a tasty and healthy treat that campers often enjoy as snacks during Maine Camp summers. And, though it is technically still summer, the shorter days, start of school, and Jewish holidays remind us that fall is near. Apples are a popular fall fruit, especially during the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah where we dip apples in honey for a sweet new year. The new year makes us think of new beginnings … New beginnings are common at Maine Camps. For families whose kids are embarking on their first ever Maine Camp summer, we are here to help guide them to the right camp and then provide them with unforgettable Maine summer camp experiences where kids expand their horizons, meet new people, learn new things, build new skills, become more independent and confident, enjoy natural beauty, and have fun. For parents considering sending their children but who are a little hesitant … they should know that there is a whole school year for their child to mature and develop, and they really may be ready by next June. For returning campers, each summer is a new beginning. A new chance to connect with nature, try new activities, learn new skills, take new trips, forge new friendships, and have new experiences. New experiences expand people’s horizons. They help campers grow and help make them into who they are and will be. Maine campers are fortunate to have a safe and happy place where they can come summer after summer to enjoy what they know, and to spread their wings and try new things. As we begin the new year (Jewish New Year, new school year) we wish everyone in the Maine camp community a sweet year ahead full of good health, happiness, and wonderful new experiences.
