8 Reasons We Love Maine Camps
February 14, 2022
On Valentine’s Day, we think about what we love, and our Maine summer camp experiences top the list. Here are eight reasons why:
Friends – There’s nothing like Maine Camp friends who help create fun and memories. Campers live 24/7 together as they grow together each summer. They often stay in touch throughout the year and in years beyond camp. Camp friends know and love you like family.
Activities – With over 50 activity choices, Maine campers can spend days enjoying their favorite activities and learning new things too. Sailing and waterskiing, tennis and lacrosse, photography and ceramics, ropes course and rock walls – the sky’s the limit!
Special events – Special events like Olympics add excitement to camp days. They’re spirited, campers like to dress up in fun costumes, and they teach teamwork and leadership.
Directors and staff – Caring directors and staff create meaningful youth development programs and opportunities that enable campers to be safe, have fun, and grow. They create a great community, take care of campers, provide encouragement, and serve as role models, mentors, and friends.
Picturesque Environs – With incredible natural lakes, to vast fields and forests, campers breathe deeply and smell the pine in the air. There’s nothing like spending a summer in Maine!
Animals – there are many animals to love at Maine Camps ranging from horses in the equestrian riding programs, to sweet farm animals like bunnies and goats. Campers may spot beautiful loons on the lake. Many camps also have a camp dog or two who love to give campers some puppy love.
Trips – trips to scenic Maine destinations are beautiful and memorable, and they develop campers’ mettle. Some favorite activities include: campfire S’mores at overnight campouts, blueberry picking trips, trips to scenic towns like Boothbay Harbor and Portland, and active adventures like hiking in Acadia National Park and rafting on the Allagash River.
Ourselves – at Maine Camps, kids can be their best selves. Campers learn new skills like sailing a boat, and they set and achieve goals like climbing to the top of a rock wall, hitting the bullseye at archery, or acting in a camp play. Free from technology and school-year stress, campers are more relaxed as they’re open to new experiences and having fun.
This Valentine’s Day, tell your camper and camp community how much you love them!
