Diving Into the New Year: Ready for Maine Camp Summer 2023
January 3, 2023
2023 is here and we are ready to dive right in! We are so excited for Maine Camp summer 2023 and now that we’re in the same calendar year, it feels even closer!
When we close our eyes, we get goosebumps thinking about Opening Day in June when campers arrive at Maine Camps. They run off the buses – hugging and crying – so happy to see their friends, directors, and counselors. And we think about first-time campers who will soon be welcomed into an amazing world where strangers will become family. Campers will thrive throughout the summer as they have fun, bond, and grow.
With 40 Maine Camps in the Maine Camp Experience community, every child can find their summer home away from home. There are many similarities among as well as differences between the camps. Here are a few highlights …
At every Maine Camp Experience Camp, campers will have the chance for peaceful mindfulness. Away from tech devices and off screens, kids connect with the incredible natural beauty around them. They feel relaxed and restored from their hectic school year lives. They also become energized from the incredible programs created by directors for meaningful youth development and fun! Campers make lifelong friendships with kids from all over, and learn new skills. They have the opportunity to challenge themselves (by climbing to the top of the rock wall, by getting up on waterskis, by learning to ride a horse or a bike, by cooking and eating new foods, by playing a new sport or trying out for the camp play, by talking on the camp’s radio station, and more), and they gain confidence, independence, and resilience that will take them well beyond their camp summers. They take memorable trips to incredible places throughout Maine and New England to hike, raft, and camp out. Instruction, opportunities, and supervision are top notch. Kids who go to Maine Camps become part of a community that becomes a part of who they are.
Each camper will find his or her home at their Maine Camp. Camps offer differing session lengths, including: 7 weeks, 6 weeks, 3-to-4 weeks, and 2 weeks. There are coed camps, and camps for boys or girls. There are bigger camps (300+) and smaller camps (approximately 100 campers) and everything in between. There are camps that are more simple and rustic – where campers live in platform tents without electricity in the cabins, and there are camps that are less rustic with state-of-the art, more elaborate offerings in activity areas and beyond. While all 40 camps feature land and water sports, arts, nature, and adventure activities, some are geared a bit toward one or another, so it’s great to find the right match for your child. Our Maine Camp Experience site features a dedicated page about each camp so prospective families can read overviews and testimonials, and view pictures and videos. Also, the site features tools like Select-A-Camp and free, expert personalized guidance from our Campcierge™(laurie@mainecampexperience.com) by email and phone to help choose the right camp.
Now that we’re in 2023, the countdown is palpable. Veteran campers know what to expect and they can’t wait! New campers are excited – and we feel so lucky for them to start their camp journey. Campers who haven’t signed up yet should research and enroll now while some spaces still remain. Summer 2023 here we come!
