Memorable Maine Camp Trips
July 28, 2023
A hallmark of any Maine Camp summer is the incredible trips campers get to take throughout Maine and New England. It’s wonderful to explore some of the most beautiful and fun places with camp friends. Each Maine Camp puts extensive time, thought, and resources toward tripping programs that give campers unique and memorable experiences. Here’s an overview:
Shorter trips:
Day trips are sprinkled throughout the summer - many camps host weekly trips (some even more!). Day trips are very popular - especially among younger campers who are getting their feet wet with out-of-camp trips to explore Maine. Popular trips include blueberry picking (and then baking with the blueberries), attending a Portland Sea Dogs baseball game, lobster boat fishing, taking local hikes, spending the day at local beaches, outings to ice cream and mini golf courses, trips to scenic coastal locales like Boothbay Harbor, and even an overnight or two to the camp’s outpost - some camps have a nearby private island or remote part of camp or local camping site. Of course, campfire S’mores are always a hit!
Extended trips:
Maine campers love extended trips which range from multi-day canoe, kayak, rafting, and overnight camping out trips, to hikes with incredible views, to exploring sights throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and even Montreal. Several Maine Camps work with MCE business partner Moxie Outdoorfor amazing active adventures. Here are a few extended trip highlights:
- Hiking Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor at sunrise in Acadia National Park - Kayaking on the Swift River - Rafting on the Kennebec River - Exploring neighboring locales like climbing Mount Washington in NH, whale watching in Cape Cod, taking a Duck boat tour in Boston, and jet boating in MontrealMaine Camp trips show campers some great places in the world and show campers that they are capable of getting out of their comfort zone and conquering challenging courses. Trips from Maine Camps are memorable, exhilarating, and fun!
