Hoop Dreams: Basketball at Maine Camps
March 19, 2024
March Madness brackets are set and the NCAA tournament kicks off shortly! The lineup includes some first-ever tournament appearances and some very popular, highly seeded teams. We’ll watch the magic of some well-known stars and witness the rise of some new players. Seeing our favorites win is exciting, as well as watching Cinderella stories no one could have predicted.
All this excitement makes us think about hoops at Maine Camps where basketball is a very popular activity for boys and girls. Campers learn skills and drills in activity periods where their progression develops throughout the summer and builds over the years. It’s great training for campers new to the game as well as those who want to extend what they’re learning and doing on teams at home. Maine Camp basketball coaches are top-notch athletes and coaches - many playing at the collegiate level.
Basketball games are very exciting at Maine Camps. With well-built courts outside and inside, there’s no shortage of all the games that are played. There are intracamp leagues where teams get to play each other day and night. There are also intercamp games, which is a fun way to see different Maine Camps, see friends you know and meet new friends. There are special occasion games and tournaments like during camp Olympics. And, there are really fun Dunk Competitions where campers and staff really get to dazzle with their skills and finesse.
March Madness is a fun way for camp communities to connect during the year - some offering pools for bracket selection.
Playing and watching basketball with Maine Camp friends are hoop dreams realized! Happy March Madness, good luck on your bracket, and happy spring!!! We can’t wait to see our Maine campers on the courts at Maine Camps soon!
