Back to School with Maine Camp Confidence
September 2, 2024
The kids are heading back to school and Maine Campers bring many great attributes from their camp summer.
Confidence - students who were campers are ready to tackle the school year. They gained confidence being on their own, away from parents where they had new experiences, learned new skills, got themselves to their activity periods, got themselves dressed and cleaned their cabin, and more. They are ready to tackle their new schedule, try new things, and succeed.
Resilience - students who were campers are ready to face and overcome challenges. Like at camp where they may have stumbled a bit before mastering waterskiing or climbing to the top of the rock wall, they are ready to face schoolwork and extracurricular activities. Overcoming those challenges at camp will help them handle disappointment and help them achieve goals. Even if they do poorly on one test or one homework assignment - they can pick themselves up and figure out how to reach their goal.
Community - students who were campers get involved. They are used to being a part of a community and value connections. They are ready to join clubs, sports teams, theater productions and beyond.
Friendship - students who were campers value friendship. They look beyond themselves to the gift of sharing life with friends. They treasure existing friendships and are open to meeting new people as they did at camp.
Refreshed - students who were campers are refreshed. They spent quality time outdoors. They were off screens and active, which is important for mind, body, and soul.
Camp is fun and really helps build life skills. Wishing all the students a great school year. We can’t wait to see our campers again in summer 2025!
