Music at Maine Camps
September 8, 2024
Spotify recently came out with their 2024 Songs of Summer Top 5 list and we are here for it! Music is pervasive at Maine Camps - it’s exciting to sing and dance along with hundreds of your peers while having fun at camp. Current songs and classic hits may play as part of wakeup, while waterskiing and boating at the lake, in dance, gymnastics, and fitness studios, at nighttime dance parties, during sports games and under-the-lights basketball dunk competitions, in cabins during clean up, and beyond. It may play on the bus on out-of-camp trips and it will play during Camp Sing when campers use the tunes but change the words to tell stories of the camp summer. Many campers use Campfire Player to get their tunes.
Making music is also a favorite activity among campers in robust camp arts programs. Campers can learn to play the drums, guitar, and piano in activity instruction periods. They can also lay tracks in music studios. And, campers can play music and sing in camp theater productions. Nighttime is another magical time for music where campers and staff may play guitar as the whole camp sings songs around the campfire. It’s beautiful and bonding. And, of course, there’s plenty of singing and cheering in the dining halls where all the world’s a stage!
Songs of summer is music to our ears and is inextricably linked to fun times that will become some of our best memories. For years to come, whenever we hear songs we associate with summers at Maine Camp, we will pump up that jam!
