Tennis at Maine Camps
August 27, 2025
The US Open is serving up some exciting first-round wins (including Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Coco Gauff), well-fought matches by inspirational tennis legends (like Venus Williams) and some unsportsmanlike conduct (we won’t name names). As the action is on at Flushing Meadows, we think about tennis at Maine Camps!
At Maine Camps, campers play A LOT of tennis! It’s a great lifetime sport that starts for many at a young age at camp. Skilled instructors teach campers all the fundamentals from footwork, grips, and volleys, to strategic lobs, slices, and drop shots, to big serves, and powerful forehand and backhand shots. In addition to the tennis skills and learning how to score the matches, campers build hand-eye coordination and good sportsmanship.
Many camps have tennis on campers’ schedules frequently such as every other day. Other camps offer it as an elective. Additional tennis opportunities include early morning, rest hour, or evening play, extra lessons, and more. In addition to lessons, camps offer tennis/ladder competitions at camp (intra), and tennis intercamp play against other camps.
Maine Camps’ tennis facilities are top notch thanks to MCE business partners like Beaverbrook Tennis and VT REcreational.
As we take in all the excitement of the US Open, we appreciate how Maine Camps help build campers’ tennis skills and affinity for the game each summer that often extends into adulthood. We love-love that!
